November 7th 2016 - Day 5 - Board 5

Death is a bunch
of wild cherries which
stains a mouth and
allows silence
to grow into stillness.
It is a spreading and leveling off.

BELIEF

Zbigniew Herbert: Barbarian in the Garden
At first I believed the barbarian would characterize someone, who knows a great deal, but did not experience place, per se. Then it seemed, that it meant the one, who has no idea about the times he invokes and relates to. Presumably he reasons his claim on an alleged bequest without a consideration for errors. And even the garden itself, in this case Europe, does not seem to be in as good order as one would think. One formula, which would explain everything—construction, symbolism and metaphysics—is initially found just as sparsely in this as a need or a reverence for such.
